Transportation: None. Cadets are to make their own way to Gerrard Square Mall.

Food: None provided. Cadets are to ensure they eat a nourishing breakfast prior to the activity and bring a bagged lunch or money to purchase one from near by vendors. 

Dress: C2 or black and white attire. 

Miscellaneous: Cadets will be provided with an opportunity to sell their OPC lottery books to members of the public during this event. Cadets must bring their own lottery books with them. This is an excellent opportunity for cadets experience difficulty selling their books or those looking to sell more in hopes to win a prize. A recruiting drive will also take place simultaneously in order to engage the East York community about the program we offer. Cadets can sign up for 4 hour shifts or the entire day. Attendance will be recorded and used when determining suitability for promotions, summer trg opportunities, and our sqn March break trip to Washington DC. Volunteer hours will also be provided for those in attendance. Don't miss out on this awesome community event, sign up now!

Food: Pizza will be provided FOLLOWING the clean up, at the end of the day. Cadets must eat a nourishing meal prior to attending. Water bottles should be brought. 

Dress: Dress warm, cadets may be working out doors. Cadets should wear clothes they feel comfortable getting dirty in. 

Miscellaneous: The legion is our squadron's primary sponsor. The clean up day will be the sqn's way of showing our support. Volunteers hours will be provided. Cadets should bring their volunteer forms to the legion.

This is a mandatory activity for entire Squadron to learn about Astronomy and see the Observatory.

The Air Cadet League of Canada (National) (ACL National) is conducting an aviation expo being held in Toronto at the Air Canada Jazz Aviation hanger, Pearson International Airport on Sunday, 14 Apr 19 from 0930 - 1600 hrs. This event is open to all squadrons in Central Region and is free to all cadets, officers and SSC members that register.

In collaboration with a number of the ACL’s partners, the Triple AAA Career Expo is an opportunity to provide Air cadets with exposure to the many career and job opportunities available in aviation and aerospace. As part of the ACL National’s strategic plan development, and our involvement with national organizations, such as the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace and the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada, their goal is to establish new initiatives that can link Air cadets with the many partners and opportunities that exist in the aviation industry.

As the Triple AAA Career Expo is open to all cadets, the target age would be from 14 to 18 years of age that are looking for information on education and a potential career options.

WHAT: Air Rifle Familiarization - Cadets will learn about the parts of an air rifle as well as safe handling of while on range

Cadets should arrive ahead of this time to get settled and be ready for the activity.
WHY: Air rifle familiarization is required for all cadets, with respect to the training syllabus. This familiarization is covered within PO 106/206/306/406.

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel this activity due to the expected weather for this weekend. The conditions will be largely unfavourable to the success and enjoyment of this activity.

What:
Snowshoeing and Hiking activity
330 Squadron will be heading up to Glen Haffy Conservation Area in Caledon to engage in snowshoeing and hiking familiarity. This event will be outdoors all day and cadets are to be dressed accordingly. This activity will include an on-site pre-course of how to snowshoe across varied terrain offered at Glen Haffy and the Bruce Trail.

Snowpants while not required are a good idea. Alternatively, cadets can wear rain pants over regular pants. NO JEANS.
Special Requirement: WINTER BOOTS.

This activity requires that all participants have proper winter boots. We will be outside for most of the day; there will be snow and ice. Furthermore, this requirement is for safety and equipment reasons. The snowshoes we are issued are not compatible with any other kinds of footwear. WINTER BOOTS ARE A MUST. Any cadet arriving the morning of, without health card, water bottle (or similar) and correct footwear will be turned away. No Exceptions.

Miscellaneous: In addition to proper winter attire, Cadets are required to bring a water container.

NCO Development Weekend

WHO: All level 4 and 5 NCOs (MANDATORY)

WHAT: A two-day NCO development training course weekend

WHERE: East York Civic Centre - 850 Coxwell Ave, East York

WHEN: December 15-16, 2018 - 0800 to 1700 (both days)

WHY: NCO development weekend is an intergral part of cadet training. This weekend course delivers extended training necessary to NCOs to succeed within the regular training program.

REQUIREMENTS: Bring Health Card and WATER BOTTLE.
Lunch provided (please bring own water bottle; beverages may limited)
TRANSPORTATION: No transportation provided. Cadets are to travel by own means to and back.

Where: Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre - 5100 Yonge Street

Transportation: None provided. Cadets must make their own way to and from the swim centre. ONLY 40 CADETS ARE PERMITTED TO ATTEND. APPROVED CADETS WILL BE CONTACTED DIRECTLY. CADETS MUST ARRIVE AT THE DOUGLAS SNOW AQUATIC CENTRE FOR 0830H.

Food: Lunch will be provided. A canteen will be available for cadets to purchase snacks at their own expense, or bring your own. A breakfast must be eaten at home prior to competing; note, cadets will be participating in vigorous swimming activities. 

Dress: Sports appropriate comfortable swim wear

Sign Ups: Are now closed! Those selected will be contacted by OPI shortly. Please include in the notes section the events (no more than 3) and age category you are competing in.

Miscellaneous: 

1. Age categories - Junior (12, 13, 14 as of day of meet), Senior (15, 16, 17, 18 - as of day of meet)
2. Swimmers can choose a maximum of three events including relay events: 
          Individual - 50m back, and/or breast and/or butterfly, and/or freestyle
          Team - 4 x 50 medley relay (back, breast, fly, free); OR,
                      4 x 50 freestyle relay

3. Entry Rules: 

  • swimmers may compete in a higher age group provided that they compete in all other individual events in the higher category;

  • a cadet may swim at a higher level for a relay, even if they swim in individual events at a lower level;

  • any swimmer competing in more than three events will be disqualified from all events of the competition. If a relay team competes with an ineligible swimmer, the whole team will be disqualified;

  • swimmer appearing to have difficulty completing an event may be halted and removed from that event at the discretion of the lifeguards, starter, or chief judge; and,

  • should this occur during a relay event, the team may repeat the event with a substitute swimmer.

4. Penalties:

  • The 3 second penalty for each swimmer failing to touch the far end of the pool with both hands at the turn. A flip-turn is not acceptable;

  • more than 1 false start will result in disqualification of the swimmer. Relay teams may substitute a swimmer that has been disqualified because of false starts. Any subsequent false starts by the relay team will result in disqualification of the team; and,

  • relay swimmers diving into the pool prior to the previous swimmer finishing their leg will incur a three second penalty.

5. Points:

  • Individual: 1st-10pts, 2nd-7pts, 3rd-5pts, 4th-3pts, 5th-2pts

  • Relay: 1st-15pts, 2nd-10pts, 3rd-7pts, 4th-5pts, 5th-3pts

330's Annual Skating Night at Nathan Philips Square

It’s time for one of 330’s longest running traditions! Skate Night at Nathan Philips Square! Every year, 330 heads down the Nathan Philips Square (NPS) for a night of outdoor skating fun to kick-off the holiday season. Come down for a few hours of skating on the famous Toronto City Hall reflecting pool.

Who: Any and all 330 cadets (and family!)
When: 7 Dec 2018 @ 6:30pm
Where: Nathan Philips Square
Rendezvous Point: To right of the TORONTO sign
Dress: Appropriate and warm civilian dress (including hats/gloves)
Bring your own skates or pay for your own skate rentals.
Return skates and dismissal for 2130hrs. Cadets to make their own way home. 

NOTES: Make sure to have a good meal before attending.

Concessions are available nearby should cadets wish to purchase food when at NPS. Bring small amount of money (at own risk) for snacks/food. Hot Chocolate will be provided by the staff (also part of the tradition!). As this is a high-energy outdoor activity, It is highly recommended that cadets bring water and chapstick/lip balm.

A portion of the proceeds will be directed towards 330 squadron and upcoming activities. The more noses we sell, the more money we make. Cadets in attendance will be able to view the parade as well.

The last Friday in October signifies the start of the annual Royal Canadian Legion poppy campaign, in support of those who serve and have served, and to raise funds for veterans and their families.

As such, we we will be lending our support to our Legions to help distribute poppies and collect donations in support of our veterans. It is strongly encouraged that all cadets participate in at least 1 of 2 shifts.  Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift.

Where: Markham Airport

Transportation: A bus will transport cadets to and from Markham Airport. Cadets must R.V. at Danforth Tech C.I. for 0715 hrs; the bus will depart promptly at 0730 hrs. Cadets will be returned to the school for approximately 1800 hrs. 

Food: Lunch ONLY will be provided. Cadets must eat a nourishing breakfast prior to the activity. Water will be accessible on site at all times. 

Dress: Appropriate comfortably fitting civilian attire. Cadets will be outdoors all day, please dress according to the weather. 

Miscellaneous: Cadets MUST bring their health card and water bottle in order to attend. Cadets are encouraged to wear sunscreen. Cadets may bring equipment (frisbees, balls, cards, books etc.) to occupy themselves during free time.

SOS Memorial Service - Sunday 23 September

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 holds their annual SOS Memorial Service, which remembers the sacrifices of veterans who have been lost to suicide. The Squadron has been asked to help support the ceremony, and to march in the parade. As this event helps support our community, cadets are eligible to receive community service hours.

Location: Legion Branch 10

Time: 1745 hrs - approximately 2000 hrs

Dress: C-1 (ceremonial)

Details: Cadets will be tasked with setting up the location, helping the Toronto Police Service set barricades, hand poppies to participants and march in the parade.

75th Annual Ceremonial Review

The Annual Ceremonial Review is a formal military inspection of the squadron. Cadets put their best foot forward for the parade, and display what they have learned in this year's training. Optional teams will present their displays and the top awards of the training year will be awarded. A reception is to follow. 

The parade is mandatory for all cadets. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Timings: Cadets to arrive at 0800 hrs in order practice the parade sequence and set up the facility. Parade starts at 1300 hrs. Parade dismissal at 1430 hrs at the latest. Reception to follow. 

Location: Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute, North Gym.

Learn to survive in the field at 330's Spring FTX!
The Squadron will have the opportunity to learn a variety of different air crew suvival techniques, ranging from improvised shelters to emergency first aid, and more!

Timings: Friday: arrive at Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute (DCTI) at 1730 hrs for a departure at 1815 hrs. Return to DCTI on Sunday at 1730 hrs.

Dress: As per kit list.

Notes: Must have your health card on you at all times! All meals are provided. Please refer to the kit list for packing instructions.
