The citizenship ceremony is a formalized rite of passage that pinpoints the moment someone enters the Canadian family. For many, it’s the realization of a dream. Sometimes, it marks the beginning of a new life. The ceremony confers the rights and acknowledges the responsibilities of citizenship.

RCL Todmorden Branch 10 will be hosting the 4th Annual Heroes of Suicide (HOS) Memorial March & Candlelight Service on Sun. Sept. 22, 2019. The event honours Veterans, First Responders & others serving our cities who have lost their battle with PTSD

*Participation is critical for all cadets.*

  2. Recruits: Black and Whites for recruits, with appropriate dark coloured jacket. Please dress accordingly to weather.

  2. With staff and Legion Members, Cadets will walk to Todmorden Lane (first North/South block east of Pape Ave., running between Cosburn and Gamble Avenues) and form up

  3. All members will walk back to Legion 10 for the Service and ceremony.

Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the service.

Activity Location: Markham Airport

Transportation: A bus will transport cadets to and from Markham Airport. Cadets must arrive at Danforth Tech no later than for 0745 hrs; the bus will depart promptly at 0800 hrs. Cadets will be returned to Danforth Tech for approximately 1830 hrs. 

** If you miss the bus, you must make you way to the Gliding Centre by your own transportation.

Food: Lunch is provided. Cadets are encouraged to eat a nourishing breakfast. Cadets should bring a water bottle and snacks for the activity. Water is not available on site, cadets are reminded to bring a minimum 1L bottle of water.

Dress: Appropriate comfortably fitting civilian attire. Cadets will be outdoors all day, please dress according to the weather. 

Miscellaneous: Cadets MUST bring their health card and water bottle in order to attend. Cadets are encouraged to wear sunscreen. Cadets may bring equipment (frisbees, balls, cards, books etc.) to occupy themselves during free time.

The annual Battle of Britain Day is celebrated on September 15.

The day is dedicated to the large-scale aerial battle that took place from July 10 until October 31, 1940. The clash was said to be the first major military campaign fought entirely by air forces.

Britain's Royal Air Force defended the United Kingdom from attacks by Nazi Germany's Luftwaffe. British allies from many nations including Canada, Australia, Poland and New Zealand also took part.

In honour of the momentous event, September 15 has become an annual day to commemorate the Battle of Britain in the UK.

*Participation is critical for all cadets.*

Dress: C-1 (ceremonial dress) with tunic. Black and Whites for recruits, with appropriate dark coloured jacket. Please dress accordingly to weather.

Location: Form up at Branch 10 Todmorden, 1083 Pape Ave., Toronto, M4K 3W7

The parade starts Legion 10 branch, after they will march (5-8 minutes) to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 154 Floyd Ave., Toronto, M4K 2B7 where the service takes place.

At completion cadets will assist in distributing flyers for the Heroes of Suicide service.

Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the parade.

Transportation: Transpiration is not provided, cadets are to arrive by own means.

Meals: Cadets return to Branch for refreshments provided by the Ladies Auxiliary

76th Annual Ceremonial Review

The Annual Ceremonial Review is a formal military inspection of the squadron. Cadets put their best foot forward for the parade, and display what they have learned in this year's training. Optional teams will present their displays and the top awards of the training year will be awarded. A reception is to follow. 

The parade is mandatory for all cadets. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Timings: Cadets to arrive at 0800 hrs in order practice the parade sequence and set up the facility. Parade starts at 1300 hrs. Parade dismissal at 1430 hrs at the latest. Reception to follow.

The Squadron will have the opportunity to learn a variety of different air crew survival techniques, ranging from improvised shelters to emergency first aid, and more!

DRESS: Download and print Kit-list below - All cadets will only be allowed to bring one back pack, so pack efficient by rolling clothes tight.

The Air Cadet League of Canada (National) (ACL National) is conducting an aviation expo being held in Toronto at the Air Canada Jazz Aviation hanger, Pearson International Airport on Sunday, 14 Apr 19 from 0930 - 1600 hrs. This event is open to all squadrons in Central Region and is free to all cadets, officers and SSC members that register.

In collaboration with a number of the ACL’s partners, the Triple AAA Career Expo is an opportunity to provide Air cadets with exposure to the many career and job opportunities available in aviation and aerospace. As part of the ACL National’s strategic plan development, and our involvement with national organizations, such as the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace and the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada, their goal is to establish new initiatives that can link Air cadets with the many partners and opportunities that exist in the aviation industry.

As the Triple AAA Career Expo is open to all cadets, the target age would be from 14 to 18 years of age that are looking for information on education and a potential career options.

Food: None provided. Cadets are to ensure they eat a nourishing breakfast prior to the activity and bring a bagged lunch or money to purchase one from near by vendors. 

Dress: C2 or black and white attire. 

Miscellaneous: Cadets will be provided with an opportunity to sell their OPC lottery books to members of the public during this event. Cadets must bring their own lottery books with them. This is an excellent opportunity for cadets experience difficulty selling their books or those looking to sell more in hopes to win a prize. A recruiting drive will also take place simultaneously in order to engage the East York community about the program we offer. Cadets can sign up for 4 hour shifts or the entire day. Attendance will be recorded and used when determining suitability for promotions, summer trg opportunities, and our sqn March break trip to Washington DC. We will be holding another range day this Saturday at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10.

WHAT: Air Rifle Familiarization - Cadets will learn about the parts of an air rifle as well as safe handling of while on range

Cadets should arrive ahead of this time to get settled and be ready for the activity.
WHY: Air rifle familiarization is required for all cadets, with respect to the training syllabus. This familiarization is covered within PO 106/206/306/406.
